BECOME A MARKSMEN

The Marksmen Co has been created to provide a practical pathway for people who want to continue asl shooters under the new firearms legislation, while also supporting landowners with real pest management needs.

Authorised Person

For individuals who cannot retain, or no longer wish to rely on, a personal firearms licence, The Marksmen Co provides an alternative solution. In this pathway, firearms are placed under The Marksmen Co’s licence, and the individual is approved as an Authorised Person to use those firearms for approved operations. This allows experienced firearm operators to retain their firearms and skills, operate lawfully, and carry out pest control work through structured, approved jobs. This pathway involves an annual membership, an Authorised Person application, and the required firearm transfer applications.

Currently Licenced

Members who already hold a personal firearms licence (such as a recreational or primary producer licence) are welcome to join. However, firearms licensed to a personal licence cannot be used for The Marksmen Co operations. To participate as a shooter, members must either:

  • Transfer a nominated firearm onto The Marksmen Co licence, or

  • Use a firearm registered under The Marksmen Co licence (availability subject to the company’s equipment at the time).

This ensures all operational shooting is conducted only with firearms lawfully authorised under the business licence.

Shooter Lite Pathway

Shooter Lite is designed for people who want to get involved but are not authorised shooters. Shooter Lite members may assist with operations as drivers, spotters, observers, or support crew. They do not use firearms and are not Authorised Persons. Shooter Lite members can progress through training and experience toward a shooting role if they choose, subject to approvals and additional requirements.
